¹¹ My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe’s household^(A) have informed me that there are quarrels among you. ¹² What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”;^(B) another, “I follow Apollos”;^(C) another, “I follow Cephas^[a]”;^(D) still another, “I follow Christ.”

¹³ Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul?^(E)

³ You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling^(A) among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans?

⁴ For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,”^(A) are you not mere human beings?

¹⁸ In the first place, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions^(A) among you, and to some extent I believe it.

¹⁹ No doubt there have to be differences among you to show which of you have God’s approval.^(A)

²⁰ For I am afraid that when I come^(A) I may not find you as I want you to be, and you may not find me as you want me to be.^(B) I fear that there may be discord,^(C) jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition,^(D) slander,^(E) gossip,^(F) arrogance^(G) and disorder.^(H)

²¹ I am afraid that when I come again my God will humble me before you, and I will be grieved^(A) over many who have sinned earlier^(B) and have not repented of the impurity, sexual sin and debauchery^(C) in which they have indulged.
